John Tabor
Lead Lighting Designer, Principal
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, and raised in Papua New Guinea and Australia, John’s interest in the technical field started early. As a 12-year-old missionary kid running sound for a local performing arts group this evolved into being a grunt/system tech/master electrician for concerts and open-air events which in turn sparked a passion for production as a whole.
In 1994 he received a degree in video production from the University of the Nations in Kona, Hawaii, and then moved to Colorado. After marrying the love of his life he landed a job for a CBS-affiliated television station. 3 years later John worked as a youth pastor/technical director for a Foursquare church who designed and produced multiple small arena events and nationwide tours.
Staying true to his techy nature in 2004 the “lights were turned on” when New Life Church in Colorado Springs hired him as their Assistant Lighting Designer. Here he gained extensive experience in lighting ‘in the round’ in their newest facility that seats 8500 people.
Over the next 12 years, his repertoire in event lighting consists of being a system tech for the Dubai Aquarium – the world’s largest shark tank, the 2008 Superbowl half-time show and, the Grammy’s working with lighting designers such as Bobby Dickinson.
